Carrot-Cumin Slaw pg.35 & Cherry Tomato Crisp
For Good Friday/Easter dinners this year we decided to experiment on our family.
The slaw was a 3 Toasts - any comments from the Spoon household? We though the cabbage could have been cut a little thinner.
The bake was a 5 Toasts from Spatula's sister Squirrel - any comments from the Spatula household?
Yes the eggs were made with the fool proof hard cooked eggs technique.
Also stop giving Spatula candy you readers. His dentist is trying to find his sweet tooth to pull it out.

Mmmm... I can taste that cherry tomato crisp right now. It was sooo good... I did notice that it didn't seems to have any binding power... it was tomatoes and it was crumble. But it all goes down the same in the end, and I wish I could have it right now!
ReplyDeleteI think Squirrel got the better dish! The Cumin Coleslaw salad was nice, but it was sliced too thickly - using a grater would have made it much thinner than hand-chopping the cabbage. Surprisingly though, the jalepeo did not bother me - and I don't usually like peppers in any form. Just a hint of pleasant pepper taste and no flaming afterburn.
ReplyDeleteThe Easter Eggs were fun - next time we'll try to dye them before putting wrappers on, and maybe try some multi-dye stripes like Uncle Mountain Man did.
Don't stop feeding Spatula candy! He loves it too much! He will eat it even after the dentist pulls out his very LAST tooth, and SO WILL I!!!
ReplyDeleteThe cherry tomato crisp was very tasty and colourful. Squirrel's idea for a binding agent is good though....and maybe more tomatoes for the "tomatoes to crumbs" ratio.
ReplyDeleteIt is an important enough side dish to be on its own with a protein and carb. We had too many other side dish options which I think took from the value of this yummy offering.
