Want an alternative to corn as a side dish. Try this.

Braised Chicken with Mushroom and Oven Baked Polenta pg201

4 Toasts 1 Crust
Spatula like mushrooms now! A culinary breakthrough. He put it like this "I don't mind mushrooms now" and his hypothesis "maybe as people get older their tastebuds die and they start eating things they didn't like before and that's why people get fat".

Any advise from any for getting to like cooked polenta more? I really want to start using this as a side dish but it seems a little bland.

Roasted Salmon with Lentils pg228

4 Toasts
Mediterranean inspired yum!

Arugula, Beet & Goat-Cheese Salad pg197

5 Toasts
We had Mom and Dad over for dinner before their trip and they bought us The Burger's Priest for dinner. Yummy with the Option. On the side we had this salad. Are you scared of beets? Don't be, try this salad with canned baby beets.

Thanksgiving - Not to be forgotten

The apple pie and cranberry sauce much better that store bought. Thanks Marty's owners great dinner!

Pork Chops with Apples & Shallots and Wilted Spinach with Nutmeg pg224

3 Toasts for the Chops - Used orange juice instead of wine
1 Toast Spinach - I was really looking forward to this as our most loyal fan makes this frequently but it was really bitter. Any suggestions? Maybe use baby spinach?

Chicken Stir-Fry Wraps pg202

4 Toasts 1 Crust
Try to keep the chicken strips thin. I suggest rice or noodles on the side unless you are trying to keep your calorie intake low or had a big lunch.

Broccoli, Chickpea & Tomato Salad pg194 & Sloppy Joes pg216

We had Bike over for dinner and he rated this dinner as 5 Toasts, feel free to elaborate on this.
We served the salad as a side along with chips and pickles. The bright colour and texture did not hide the legumes from Spatula but the flavor was delicious.

Try to let the sloppy joes cool first cause they went down fast. We made them without bell pepper, next time.

Fish Po'Boys

New Orleans style fish 4 Toasts 1 Crust
Wow! Do you really hate eating fish normally? You will lovvve this one. The cornmeal breading and spicy tartar sauce make this sandwich delish. Try looking for bread that is less dense or hollowing out the bread 'cause this gets really filling. Try to balance all the tastes. Make the sauce really hot! Yum.

Carrot Slaw with Yogurt Dressing pg232

4 Toasts
Easy to make and really fresh. Try using carrots if they are not eaten as a snack already.
Did I mention that Spoon ate Spatula's piece of cheesecake?

Roasted Chicken & Vegetables pg208

5 Toasts
Why do my grocery stores not have paper bags for the mushrooms? Make sure you buy the skin on chicken for this dish. This is a really quick and hearty dinner for fall. Keep the acorn squash slices thin.
I'm starting the count down to the end of this blog. What motivation I know we can finish this book, but we may have a big bakeoff at then end because Spatula and I never make sweets and there are numerous deserts in this book.

Apple, Endive & Grape Salad pg 190

1 Toast
Granted that I didn't add the endive this salad tasted so bad that Spatula tried to pretend it wasn't on the table when we ate dinner. My suggestion, small portions reduce the amount of salad dressing to just a coating.
